This is what happened. I saw the Miffster (whose Dutch name is Nijntje Pluis) one day heading down the street in my direction as I was stopped at the Scary Stories booth admiring the hard work of Wendy Ann (who you'll be getting to see more of under FIVE QUESTIONS WITH THE CREATOR in the near distant future).
"Miffy!" I cried out. Not saying a word, Miff threw it's arms up into the air and came at me. It was a very emotional moment for the two of us. I saw a tear roll down it's eyewith a head and eyes so huge one can only imagine the size of this single teardrop. It filled the empty beer cup I was holding. I drank Miff's sweet, sugary tear, crumpled up the cup in my hand, threw it behind me and hugged Miffy like I have never hugged an eight foot tall rabbit before.
This confectionary hug lasted what seemed like lifetimes...my hands couldn't help but wander past Miff's plush neck down to it's arms and it was then when I realized how buff Miffy was. I was startled and stepped back, breaking the hug and looked right into Miff's left eye and said "Wow, you are strong!" Miff covered it's mouth with one paw and swatted the air with the other paw in embarassment of my flattering remark.
Then I said, "You're a bit creepy too."
Immediately both paws flew to cover it's criss-cross mouth in shock of what I said. Miffy lowered it's head and started crying. What had I done! When it crossed it's arms and started tapping it's foot heavily I knew I should apologize.
"I'm sorry, Miffy. I didn't mean it like that," I said.
Immediately we were back to hugging. So forgiving, Miffy is.
God, I love Miffy.
This is a true story. Ask FroAnn, she witnessed this first hand.
